Wilma "Poog" Jean Daugherty, 90, of Arthur, formerly of Mattoon and Arcola, died at 11:05 PM Sunday, May 17, 2015 at the Arthur Home.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM Friday, May 22, 2015 at Shrader Funeral Home, 204 N. Locust Street, Arcola, with Rev. John Stewart officiating. Burial will follow in the Arcola Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 PM Thursday at the funeral home.

Poog was born August 23, 1924 in Arcola, the daughter of Adam and Kate Mattingly Smith. She married Dean Daugherty in Arcola on Feb. 19, 1946; he preceded her in death on Sept. 10, 1991.

Survivors include her son, Terry (Brenda) Daugherty of Huntersville, North Carolina; daughter, Sherry (Joel) Fitzjarrald of Arthur; sister, LaVonne Smith of Arcola; granddaughters, Kacie (Rob) Weston of Kensington, Maryland; Kelly (Kyle) Shackelton of Aubrey, Texas; great grandchildren, Claire and Samuel Weston; Finnley and Tessa Shackelton; and special niece, Barb (Dick) Hein of Arthur. She was preceded in death by her husband and sister, Wanda Jo Schultz.

Poog graduated from Arcola High School in 1941. She worked at General Electric in Mattoon from 1954-1985 where she assembled light bulbs from the smallest one used in cameras to the lights used for the movie, "Cleopatra". In the latter years she also operated a fork lift which she named "Clyde." During World War II, she worked for the Defense Department in Illiopolis assembling munitions.

Poog was a member of the Broadway Christian Church in Mattoon and attended the Arthur First Baptist Church.
