William Surma, 94, of Tuscola, IL, passed away at 4:15 p.m. Monday, August 31, 2015 at the Tuscola Health Care Center, Tuscola, IL.
Private family graveside services will be held on Thursday, September 3, 2015 at the Tuscola Township Cemetery, Tuscola, IL. Hilligoss Shrader Funeral Home, 705 South Main Street, Tuscola, IL has been entrusted with the arrangements.
Mr. Surma was born October 23, 1920 in Johnston City, IL, the son of Vincent and Anna Babonnas Surma. He married Jean Houk on January 3, 1948 in Champaign, IL.
He is survived by his wife: Jean Surma of Tuscola; a son: Jon Surma and wife: Cindy of Tuscola; a daughter: Andrea Englehardt and husband: Bill of Tuscola; grandchildren: Adrienne (Michael) Ferrell; Jessica (Bryce) Borchers; Tyler (Molly) Surma; Travis Surma; Caleb (Kelley) Englehardt; Nathan (Trisha) Englehardt and Brett (Courtney) Englehardt; 9 great-grandchildren and a sister: Ann Torregrossa.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson: Michael Surma.
He was a member of the Kemp Church of Christ. Bill was a World War II Air Force veteran. He worked at USI Chemical Company in Tuscola, IL as a machinist, retiring in 1982.
