William (Bill) Ruud, 92, of Tuscola, IL, passed away 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, January 28, 2014 at the Arcola Health Care Center, Arcola, IL

Bill was born April 11, 1921 in Albia, Iowa to Grant and Francis Ruud.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, February 1, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at Hilligoss Shrader Funeral Home, 705 South Main Street, Tuscola IL. Celebration of Life Services will be held at the funeral home at 2:00 p.m. A private burial will be held at a later date.

Surviving are his wife Ruth (Helregel) Ruud, daughters Terri Helregel (Steve Grady), Sue (Travis) Resler, Brenda Jackson, grandkids Trevor and Tyler Resler, Chelsea (Keith) Innocenti, Sean Grady, Alex Grady and 2 nephews.

He was preceded in death by his first wife Fern Ruud and son Doug Helregel.

Bill proudly served during World War II from 1942 to 1948. After his time in the Navy, Bill spent 33 years as an employee of Champaign District 4 schools. During his retirement, he was well known for his woodworking, love of travel and spending time with his family, whom he loved dearly. Bill was a proud supporter of the Illini basketball and football teams.

Bill's family would like to say a special Thank You to the caring staff at the Arcola Healthcare Center who provided so much love and support during the last few months of his life.
