William J. Bennett, 92, of Charleston, IL passed away at 5:15 p.m. Sunday, June 23, 2024 at the Charleston Rehab and Health Care Center, Charleston, IL.

Memorial Services will be held at 12:00  p.m. Saturday, July 13, 2024 at the First Church of God, 1225 Montgomery Drive, Charleston, IL with Pastor Vance Oliver officiating.

Mr. Bennett was born June 5, 1932 in Seven Hickory Township, IL the son of Joe F. and Irene E. Frye Bennett.  He married Martha J. Carpenter on February 14, 1951 in Corinth, MS.  She preceded him in death on April 9, 2016.

Survivors include a son: Jeffrey Jay (Bing) Bennett of Charleston; daughter: Brenda Jo (Sky) Price of Charleston; 5 granddaughters, 3 great- granddaughters and 2 great- grandsons.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother: Dale F. Bennett and sister: Imogene E. Lafferty.

Mr. Bennett was a United States Air Force veteran.  He was an engineer for the Norfolk & Southern Railroad for many years.  He was a member of the First Church of God in Charleston, IL.
