Obituary

Wilbur E. Spencer, 84, of Garrett, IL, passed away at 4:39 A.M., Sunday, February 3, 2008 at the Proctor Hospital, Peoria, IL

Graveside Services with military graveside rites accorded by the James Reeder American Legion Post #770, Atwood, IL, will be held at 1:00 P.M., Saturday, March 1, 2008 at the Cartwright Cemetery, rural Tuscola, IL. No Visitation will be held. The Hilligoss Shrader Funeral Home, 66 East US Highway 36, Atwood, IL is handling the arrangements.

Mr. Spencer was born on May 10, 1923 in White Mills, KY, the son of Samuel E. and Nellie Ann Henderson Spencer. He married Geraldine "Jerry" Temple on December 21, 1945 in Prophetstown, IL. She preceded him in death on September 21, 1998.

Survivors include: 1 Daughter: Brenda A. Leon of Villa Grove, IL, 2 Sons: Dennis E. Spencer of Oreana, IL, John E. Spencer of Avon, IN, 8 Grandchildren, 8 Great-Grandchildren, 1 Brother: James Spencer of West Point, IL, 1 Sister: Bernice Romine of Tuscola, IL

He was preceded in death by his Parents, 1 Son: Larry Spencer, 3 Brothers and 2 Sisters.

Mr. Spencer was a retired ironworker. He was a member of the Ironworkers Union Local # 380, Champaign, IL. He was a member of the Tuscola Moose Lodge and the James Reeder American Legion Post #770, Atwood, IL. He served his country as a member of the US Navy during World War II.
