Wayne Stuart, 88, of Arthur, died at 12:30 AM Thursday, January 8, 2015 at Mason Point, rural Sullivan.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Saturday, January 10, 2015 at Shrader Funeral Home, 431 S.Vine Street, Arthur, with Rev. Dawn Ingram officiating. Burial will follow in the Arthur Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral service.
Wayne was born December 19, 1926 in Lovington, the son of John Harrison and Flora Stuart. He married Gladys Ashley in Louisville, Kentucky on March 14, 1951.
Survivors include his wife, Gladys Stuart of Arthur; 3 sons, Michael (Jan) Stuart of Troy, Patrick (Julia) Stuart of Moweaqua, Timothy Stuart of Arthur; 1 daughter, Susan (Chip) McKee of Terre Haute, Indiana; 2 sisters, Norma Mallory of Sun City, Florida, and Rita Laughlin of Forsyth; 7 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers, and 3 sisters.
Wayne graduated from Atwood High School. He first worked at Progress Industries in the casket division for 20 years and then was employed at Caterpillar in Decatur for 20 years.
He served his country during World War II, serving in the United States Navy.
Wayne loved gardening, mowing, and landscaping. He was a member of the Arthur Sportsman's Club. He was a fan of the St. Louis Cardinals, Fighting Illini, and "Tiger" golf.
