Wayne H. Seip, 84, of Tuscola, IL, passed away at 12:39 a.m., Saturday, October 5, 2013 at the Tuscola Health Care Center, Tuscola, IL
Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Monday, October 7, 2013 at the Hillgoss Shrader Funeral Home, 705 South Main Street, Tuscola, IL with Rev. Kenneth Roedder officiating. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. with Masonic Services following at 7:00 p.m., on Sunday, October 6, 2013 at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Tuscola Township Cemetery.
Wayne was born on December 29, 1928 in Douglas County, IL, the son of Merle and Eva Paul Seip. He married Donna Root on March 24, 1948 in Newman, IL. She preceded him in death on January 29, 2007.
Surviving are his sons: Mark A. Seip and wife: Jo of Des Moines, IA, Eric M. Seip and wife: Joan of Redmond, OR and Timothy W. Seip and wife: Becky of Tuscola, IL. Grandchildren include: David (Jessica) Seip of Dallas, TX, Claire (Ben) Hirssig of Neenah, WI, Cameron (Samantha) Seip of Kansas City, MO, Melody Seip who is currently studying in Germany, Jeremy Wrenzinski of Albany, OR and Justin Seip of Redmond, OK, Adam (Amber) Seip of Tuscola, IL, A.T. (Elizabeth) Seip of Pennsylvania, Andy Weaver of Bloomington, IL, Aaron (Lauryn) Weaver of Tuscola, IL and Mackenzie Seip of Tuscola, IL, Great-Grandchildren include: Vincent Seip, Stacy and Erica Wrenzinski, Tyler, Dalton and Carlie Seip, Seth and Sophia Seip and Colby Weaver. Sister: Helen L. Seip Wirth of Tuscola, IL, Sister-In-Law: Jeanne Miller of Tuscola, IL and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers: George and Harold M. and sisters: Martha Vickroy and Jean Albritton.
Wayne was a member of the Tuscola United Methodist Church, a 50 year member of the Tuscola Masonic Lodge #332, AF & AM, Tuscola Chapter of the Royal Arch #66, Melita Commandery #37 and the Tuscola Moose Lodge. He was honorably discharged from the US Navy in February 1946.
Wayne was employed for 36 years by USI-Quantum Chemical Company in Tuscola and retired in 1991. He was an alderman for the City of Tuscola from 1969 to 1977. Wayne was instrumental in the development of Wimple Park. He volunteered with Boy Scouts of America, where he was involved with conducting summer and winter Camps at Camp Drake. Wayne and Donna both enjoyed gardening and loved to share their produce with family, neighbors and friends. He loved fishing, hunting and spending time with his kids, grandkids, great-grandkids and USI buddies.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Nunn Scout Building, Douglas County Museum or donor's choice.
