Walter G. Steiner, M.D., 85, of Tuscola, IL, died at 1:50 P.M., Thursday, September 21, 2006, at the Provena Covenant Medical Center, Urbana, IL
Mass of the Resurrection will be held at 10:30 A.M., Monday, September 25, 2006 at the Forty Martyrs Catholic Church, 201 East Van Allen Street, Tuscola, IL, with Father Barry Harmon as celebrant. No Visitation will be held. Private Family Internment Services with Military Graveside Rites will be held at the Tuscola Township Cemetery, Tuscola, IL. The Hilligoss Shrader Funeral Home, 705 South Main Street, Tuscola, IL has been entrusted by the family with the arrangements.
Dr. Steiner was born on August 11, 1921 in Villa Park, Illinois, the son of Gottlieb and Anna Bluhm Steiner. He married Sylvia P. Gorajewski on January 9, 1944 in Chicago, IL. She survives.
Other survivors include: 2 Sons: Walter G. Steiner of Schererville, IN, James R. Steiner of Sparta, IL, 1 Daughter: Erica P. Steiner of Montgomery Village, MD, 6 Grandchildren, 3 Great-Grandchildren
He was preceded in death by his Parents and 2 Sisters.

Dr. Steiner was a physician and surgeon in Tuscola from 1951 until his retirement in 1988. He was a graduate of Drake University in Iowa and he was a 1950 graduate of the Chicago Medical School. He was a member of the American Medical Association and the Illinois State Medical Society. He was a US Navy World War II Veteran, where he served as a Pharmacist Mate 1st Class. He was a member of the Forty Martyrs Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, Tuscola American Legion Post #27, Tuscola Moose Lodge #729 and Kaskaskia County Club, Arcola, IL. He loved to golf, work on his computer, do yard work and walk around town.
