Virginia Miller Walkup passed away peacefully on June 8, 2018 at Decatur Memorial Hospital surrounded by family. She was 93 years old.

Born January 4, 1925 in Boonville, NY to Bessie Wade and Walter Karl Miller, Virginia was a graduate of Boonville High School and Cornell University. Virginia married Norris Wayne Walkup at the First Baptist Church in Boonville on August 25, 1946.

Virginia was an avid reader and enjoyed traveling domestically and internationally with Wayne and fostering lifelong friendships. As an active member of the local churches in Pennsylvania, Illinois, and Kansas where she lived during Wayne's career, she remained in contact with families from across the country, exchanging notes, cards, and well-wishes for life's countless occasions.

A long-time member of Extension, Virginia held essential positions such as Secretary and Treasurer throughout her involvement. She was recognized both locally and state-wide for her roles as dedicated volunteer, faithful church member and valued community member.

Virginia was preceded in death by her husband Wayne, sisters Grace Healt and Marion Miller, children Donna (Lyle) Eastin, Brian Walkup and Pam (Chuck) Wolfe.

Virginia is survived by her sister, Eleanor Kotary, son Tracy (Karen) Walkup, seven grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, August 4, 2018 at 10 am at Mackville Cemetery in Atwood, IL with Pastor John Stewart officiating. No formal visitation will be held. Hilligoss Shrader Funeral Home, Atwood, IL will facilitate arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Virginia Walkup's name to Carle Cancer Center in Urbana, IL.
