Obituary

Virginia Louise Stilley, 77, of Virden, IL, formerly of rural Sadorus, IL, passed away at 2:37 p.m., Saturday, October 3, 2015 at her residence.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, October 6, 2015 at the First Baptist Church of Champaign, 1602 South Prospect Ave., Savoy, IL Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m., Monday, October 5, 2015 at the Hilligoss Shrader Funeral Home, 705 South Main Street, Tuscola, IL and 1 hour prior to the services at the church. Burial will be in the Lewis Cemetery, rural Tuscola, IL.

Virginia was born on December 7, 1937 in Balcom, IL, the daughter of Ward Owen and Minnie Lee Smoot Woodard. She married Richard D. Stilley on October 6, 1956 in Anna, IL. He preceded her in death on April 19, 2012.

Survivors include her 2 sons: Ronald Owen Stilley and wife: Dianne of Cordova, TN, Michael Carl Stilley and wife: Jan of Lino Lakes, MN, daughter: Sheila Louise Jessen and husband: Chad of Virden, IL, grandchildren: Carmen Louise (Leighton) Cline, Ian Scott Goulden, Kiana Jae Stilley and Jaedyn Elise Stilley, great-grandson: Keenan Jerod Cline, 2 sisters: Marcia Treece of Anna, IL, Patricia Meadows of West Frankfort, IL

She was preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers: James Woodard, Ward Jay Woodard and Troy Lee Woodard and her sister: Kedron Boyer.
Virginia graduated from Anna-Jonesboro Community High School in 1955, where she was salutatorian. She had previously worked at the Anna National Bank and the Tuscola National Bank. Virginia retired on December 31, 1997 from the Douglas County Office of the Illinois Department of Human Services, where she worked as a case worker for 33 years.

Virginia was member of the Chatham Baptist Church, Chatham, IL and a former member of the First Baptist Church of Champaign, Savoy, IL. She loved singing and was a soprano soloist at church services including weddings and funerals, and was a choir member. She had major roles in 3 plays at the Villa Grove Community Theatre. She enjoyed playing the piano and had been a church pianist at Hillcrest Baptist Church in Tuscola. Virginia also liked to read and cook, was a NASCAR fan-Jeff Gordon was her favorite driver.
