Virginia Lea Beery, 99, of Atwood, IL, went to her heavenly home at 2:45 p.m., Sunday, March 4, 2012 at Fair Havens Christian Home, Decatur, IL
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 7, 2012 at the United Church of Atwood, 210 North Main Street, Atwood, IL. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday until time of services at the church. Burial will be in the Mackville Cemetery, Atwood, IL. Hilligoss Shrader Funeral Home, Atwood, IL has been entrusted with the arrangements.
Memorials are suggested to the United Church of Atwood.
Virginia was born on July 15, 1912 in Laketon, Indiana, the daughter of Horatio Lee Frushour and Fern Lola (Reed) Frushour. She married Wilbur Lewis "Bill" Beery on November 23, 1939 in Decatur, Illinois. He preceded her in death on August 24, 1988.
She was an active member of the United Church of Atwood, American Legion Post #770 Auxiliary and 16 Hi Bridge Club.
Virginia is survived by her sons, Robert (Mary Ann) Beery of Atwood; Richard "Dick" (Kathy Thompson) Beery of Decatur; grandchildren: David (Shelley) Beery of Monticello, Angela (Robert) Springman of Lovington, Matthew Beery of Decatur, great-grandchildren, Abbey Beery of Monticello, Ryan Springman of Normal, Alex Beery of Decatur, Jessica Springman of Lovington, Sophia Beery & Isabella Beery of Monticello; sister: Elizabeth Hill of Decatur, sister-in-law: Margaret Frushour of Ft. Worth, Texas, brother-in-law: Stanley Crouch of Decatur, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and cherished friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers: Edward, George, Richard and Paul, sister: Emma Crouch and granddaughter: Michele Beery.
The family would like to give heartfelt thanks to the staff at Fair Havens Christian Home for their loving and compassionate care of Virginia over the last year, especially the station 4 angels who gently cradled her during the last phases of her journey home.
