Violet "Vi" Vaughan, 87, of Monticello, IL, formerly of Atwood, passed away at 5:22 a.m., Sunday, November 9, 2008 at Kirby Hospital, Monticello, IL

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, November 12, 2008
at the Hilligoss Shrader Funeral Home, 66 East US Highway 36, Atwood, IL, with Dr. Lanny Faulkner officiating.Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m., Tuesday, Novembe 11, 2008 at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Mackville Cemetery, Atwood, IL

Mrs. Vaughan was born in Mechanicsburg, IL on July 6, 1921 to Mabel and Abraham Troxell. She married Maurice Randall of Atwood on September 26, 1939. He passed away on January 2, 1970. She married Edwin "Ed" Vaughan of Atwood on September 20, 1975. He passed away on December 30, 2001.

Violet was preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers, 3 sisters and one infant son.

Survivors include her Daughter: Gail Howard of Savoy; Step-Daughter: Rae Ann Vaughan of Urbana; 2 Sons: George (Carolyn) Randall of Monticello, Mike (Mary Kay) Randall of Monticello, 6 Grandchildren: David (Kim) Randall of Chesapeake, VA, Stephen Howard of Ocean City, MD, Alex Randall of Bement, Joe (Ashley) Randall of Monticello, Susan (Michael) Huckstadt of Urbana, Jason Randall of Savoy, and 2 Great-Grandchildren: Tyler and Madison Randall of Chesapeake, VA, 13 Nieces and Nephews,
First Cousin: Pearl Petschauer of Springfield, IL

Mrs. Vaughan was a longtime resident of Atwood.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Atwood; member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Atwood. She was also a member of the Rebekah Lodge in Arthur, where she held many offices including Noble Grand.

Her hobbies included fishing, crocheting, needle point, gardening, watching and feeding birds, especially her beloved Cardinals. She was an avid Cub fan. Her favorite hobby of all was spending time with her family.

Mom now lives in our hearts and memories.

The family would like to thank Dr. Steven Sparenberg for his special friendship shown to their mother and a special thank you to the nurses and staff of Kirby Hospital for their service and love given to them.
