Vernon Junior Stutzman, 85, of Arthur, died at 7:58 p.m. Friday, September 13, 2024 at his residence.

He was born September 15, 1938 in Douglas County, the son of Vernon L. and Katie Beachy Stutzman.  He married Barbara Anne Mabry on January 5, 1963; she preceded him in death on November 17, 2007.

Survivors include 4 sons, Vernon (Donna) Stutzman of Gurnee; Brian Stutzman of Decatur; Gary (Bobbie) Stutzman of Arthur; Chad Stutzman of Arthur; daughter, Susan (Jim) Jarvis of Arcola; brother, Gene (Jane) Stutzman of St. Petersburg, Florida; Seven grandchildren .

Vernon was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara; brother, Willard Stutzman; and daughter Marla Kay Stutzman.

Vernon was employed at Caterpillar in Decatur for 36 years; he was a member of the United Auto Workers #751 in Decatur.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be sent to Arthur Ambulance Service or Land of Lincoln Honor Flight, 57 Country Place, Springfield, IL 62703.

Funeral services will be held at noon on Saturday, September 28, 2024 at Shrader Funeral Home, 431 S. Vine Street, Arthur, with Pastor John Stewart officiating.  Burial will follow in the Arthur Cemetery.  Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral service at noon.
