Timothy Conger Waddell, 79, of Sullivan, died at 11:43 AM Sunday, May 6, 2012 at Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Celebration of Life services will be held at 10:30 AM Wednesday, May 9, 2012 at the Southern Baptist Church, 615 E. Jackson, Sullivan, with Pastor Don Lusk officiating. Shrader Funeral Home, 204 N. Locust Street, Arcola, is assisting the family with arrangements.
Tim was born December 3, 1932 in McEwen, Tennessee, the son of Conger Fuson and adopted father Arthur Waddell and Etta Wanda Chenoweth Waddell. He was united in marriage to Gloria "Suzy" Lemley in Bentonville, Arkansas, on January 6, 1975.
Survivors include his wife, Gloria "Suzy" Waddell of Sullivan; 2 daughters, Sheri Leman and husband Glen of Arcola; Michelle Parsley and husband Kevin of Isabel; 3 grandsons, Kyle Parsley of Isabel; Daniel Parsley of Borton; Joshua Leman of Arcola; 2 great grandsons, Loghan Parsley and Tristan Leman.
Tim graduated from Chicago Christian High School and attended trade school for two years. He was a CME code welder and worked for National Tank in Chatanooga, Tennessee and Tulsa, Oklahoma, Tu-Blok in Mattoon, and Progress Industries in Arthur where he had the highest ever welding score. He also owned and operated Waddell News Agency for over 20 years in which he was an independent bundle driver for the News Gazette in Champaign. Tim had volunteered as an emergency medical technician for the Villa Grove Ambulance Service and Shrader Ambulance Service in Arcola for 10 years. Most recently he was a driver for Moultrie County Beacon in Sullivan. He was formerly a member of the United States Coast Guard.
He loved to play the guitar, enjoyed all kinds of music, and especially enjoyed attending Blue Grass Festivals.
Memorials are suggested to the Southern Baptist Church in Sullivan.
