Thelma Jean Unverferth Hawkins, aged 90, of Tuscola, passed away peacefully at 4:45 p.m. on Sunday, October 6, 2024, at Arbor Rose of Tolono.

Her life will be celebrated with a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 11, 2024, at the Hilligoss Shrader Funeral Home, located at 705 South Main Street, Tuscola, IL. She will be laid to rest in the Tuscola Township Cemetery.

Friends and family are invited to gather for visitation from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday at the funeral home.

Thelma was born on January 24, 1934 in Oakwood, IL, the daughter of George and Lola Miller Unverferth. She married Thomas M. Hawkins, Sr. on August 17, 1952 in Oakwood. He preceded her in death on July 4, 1975.

She is survived by her children: Thomas (Nancy) Hawkins, Jr. of Kansas City, MO, Donna (Charley) Shepherd of Cerro Gordo, Carol (Mark) Meharry of Tolono and Linda (Mike) Morris of Tuscola, 12 grandchildren: Tomi Suzanne (TJ) Mattick, Noelle (Michael) McNutt, Michael (Brianna) Hawkins, Sarah Wamser, Anthony Sheperd, Paul Meharry, Lucas (Joella) Meharry, Hannah (Jacob) Calhoun, Casey Ehler, Kammy (John) Kinyoun, Kurtis Kinyoun, and Olivia (Bradley) Morris, 20 great-grandchildren and sister: Joyce Martin of Danville.

Thelma was preceded in death by her parents, husband and 5 siblings.

Thelma was very strong in her Christian faith, she loved God and her family.  She was very caring and a hard worker. She enjoyed cake decorating and lived the life God put her on this earth to do. Well done good and faithful servant!
