Thelma K. Downs, 96, of Atwood, IL, passed away at 4:15 p.m., Friday, July 31, 2009 at the Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Care Center, Mattoon, IL

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, August 4, 2009 at the Hilligoss Shrader Funeral Home, 66 East US Highway 36, Atwood, IL, with the Rev. Veronica Don officiating. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., on Monday, August 3, 2009 at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Zion Cemetery, rural Arthur, IL.

Mrs. Downs was born on April 2, 1913 in Garrett Township, IL, the daughter of Simon and Amelia Klink Greve. She married Paul M. Downs on January 30, 1932 in Bement, IL. He preceded her in death on July 13, 1989.

Surviving is her son: Arnold Downs of Mt. Vernon, IL, and his daughter: (Mrs. Down's Granddaughter): Jeanette M. Downs Strang and her husband: Kevin and their daughter: (Mrs. Downs' Great-Granddaughter): Maggie Rose Strang.

Also surviving is her son: Dale Downs and his wife: Lois of Charleston, IL and their sons: Alan (Catherine) Downs and Dan (Kelly) Downs, and their children: Maxwel, Sydney, Cole, Jairon, Kyle and Anna Downs. Sister-In-Law: Delores Greve of Atwood, IL

She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers: Otto and Paul Greve, sisters: Norma Weller, Gertrude Smith and Wanda Greve.

Mrs. Downs was a homemaker and a member of the United Church of Atwood. She did everything for everyone.
