Mrs. Thara Rhesa Bevis, 96, of Arthur passed peacefully at her home in Arthur surrounded by family, 9:10 a.m. Saturday, May 15, 2021.

Funeral Services will be Noon Saturday, May 22, 2021 at the Shrader Funeral Home, 431 South Vine Street, Arthur, with Rev. Gawain Bevis and Rev. Wayne Stacy officiating.  Burial will follow in the Arthur Cemetery.  Visitation will be 10:00 a.m. until time of the Services.

Mrs. Bevis was born September 10, 1924, in Jefferson County, Illinois, the daughter of Hershel and Mary Ophel Hodge Hale.  She was united in marriage to Clayburn Charles Bevis February 5, 1944 at Bonnie, Illinois; he preceded her in death on May 2, 2018.

Survivors include 4 children, Ms. Kyrah Hacker of Oklahoma City, OK; Gawain Bevis and wife Yvonne of Arthur; Mrs. Rebekah Long and husband Joel of Booneville, AR; Mrs. Meleah Smith and husband Bob of Arthur; 2 sisters, Mrs. Dolores Payne of Ina, and Mrs. Voris Adams of Belle Rive.  There are also 11 grandchildren, Jason Hacker, Erika Hampton, Daca Emery, Damen Stutzman, Dionne Kellogg, Monica Hill, J. Aaron Long, Kyle Long, Jared Smith, Derek Smith and Kimbra Isaacs; 20 great grandchildren and 1 great great granddaughter.

Mrs. Bevis had a very strong faith.  She was a member of the First Apostolic Church of Arthur.  Thara loved to sew and was a gifted seamstress.  She created wedding dresses for all her children and grandchildren.  She produced graduation dresses and Barbie Doll dresses complete with veils.
