Mrs. Shirley J. Holmes, 84, of Arthur, IL, died at 4:20 p.m., Saturday, March 17, 2012 at the Fair Havens Christian Home, Decatur, IL

Shirley was born on September 3, 1927 in Decatur, IL, the daughter of Alfred and Martha Vonlanken Rahn. She was united in marriage to Donald Eugene Holmes in Jacksonville, IL, on March 22, 1947. Mr. Holmes preceded his wife in death on December 4, 1995.

Mrs. Holmes is survived by her daughter: Cheri Hubbard and husband: Bud of Lacey's Spring, AL; sons: Terry Holmes and wife: Harriet of Tuscola, IL, and Lee Holmes and wife: Julee of LaPlace, IL, grandchildren: Hank Hubbard and wife: Kelli of Union Grove, AL, great-grandson: Justin Lee; Teresa (Hubbard) Morrell of Huntsville, AL, great-grandson: Jonathan, Tara (Holmes) Cook and husband: Tim of Colorado Springs, CO, great-grandchildren: Norah and Micah; Mike Holmes of Tuscola, IL, great-grandchildren: Miah, Michael, Marcus and Mason, Shenoa (Fehr) Davis and her husband: Donnie of Las Vegas, NV, great-grandchildren: Jadon and Donovan; Shannon (Fehr) Pennington and her husband: Paul of Elgin, IL, great-grandchildren: Calvin and Olivia; and Melissa (Holmes) Emmerich and husband: Jake of Effingham, IL, great-grandchildren: Callie and Rachel.

Mrs. Holmes was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

She was a member of the Zion United Church of Christ, rural Arthur, IL.

Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 20, 2012 at the Shrader Funeral Home, 431 South Vine Street, Arthur, IL. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m., on Tuesday until time of services. Burial will follow in the Zion United Church of Christ Cemetery, rural Arthur, IL

Memorial are suggested to either the Arthur Public Library or the Illinois School for the Visually Impaired, Jacksonville, IL
