Obituary

Shalynn Brooke Conner, 22, of Atwood, IL, passed away suddenly on Saturday morning, October 14, 2017 at her residence.

Celebration of Life Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at the Hilligoss Shrader Funeral Home, 66 East US Highway 36, Atwood, with Pastor Duane Piercy officiating. Burial will follow in the Mackville Cemetery, Atwood.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, October 17, 2017 at the funeral home.

Shalynn was born on June 7, 1995 in Urbana, IL, the daughter of Timothy L. and Stacy K. Long Conner.

Survivors include her mother and step-father: Stacy and Jeremy Welch of Atwood, father: Tim Conner of Garrett, brothers: T.C. Conner of Morgan City, LA and Logan Conner of Atwood, maternal grandparents: Robert and Barbara Long of Hammond, step-grandparents: Karel and Rich Helton of Charleston, paternal grandparents: Leroy and Susan Conner of Garrett and RuthAnn and Jim Spear of Hammond, several aunts and uncles: Bill and Shari Schable, Tom and Shelley Myers, Rod and Julie Long, Sheila Conner and Jared Welch.

Shalynn was preceded in death by her step-grandfather: Jerry Welch and by her lifetime friend and mentor: Lois Wolfe.

Shalynn was currently working for Tuscola Do-It-Best as a retail clerk. She graduated from Atwood-Hammond High School in 2013, where she served as homecoming queen in 2012.

Shalynn was involved in many activities during high school, including singing in the choir, cheerleading, participating in the school play and talent shows, playing clarinet in the marching band and singing the national anthem at many local events. She was a member of the Hammond United Methodist Church and American Legion Auxillary.

At a very young age, Shalynn was fortunate enough to have a passion for music sparked by her beloved friend, Lois Wolfe. Through years of instruction, Shalynn and Lois crafted a "talent to be shared with others, throughout the days of her life."

Memorials are suggested to the Hammond United Methodist Church or Victory Church of Camargo.
