Ruth L. Smith Jamison, 98, of Princeton, formerly of Tuscola, passed away on Tuesday morning, December 17, 2024.
Private Family Graveside Services will be held at the GAR Cemetery, Homer, IL.
Ruth was born on June 24, 1926 in Jamaica, IL, the daughter of Henry L. and Pauline Talbott Smith. She married Ira Turner Jamison, Jr. on June 9, 1945 in Decatur. He preceded her in death on August 31, 2000. After Ira passed away, Ruth moved to Princeton in 2001 to be close to her family.
Ruth began her career working at Chanute Field in Rantoul, IL in 1944. In 1945, she worked at Caterpillar in Decatur. Ruth then worked as the bookkeeper for the family business, Jamison Livestock Markets until she and Ira retired.
Ruth became a volunteer Gold Coat at Perry Memorial Hospital in 2004, she continued volunteering until 2020. She enjoyed working in her yard and gardening.
Survivors include her son Greg (Julie) Jamison of Princeton, daughter-in-law: Kim Jamison of Bloomington, grandchildren: Jiliane (Matt) Johnson of Altona, Turner Jamison of Princeton, Austin Jamison of Mt Zion, Nicholas (Heather) Jamison of Bloomington and Jonathon Jamison of Bloomington, 7 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son: Jan Philip Jamison and brothers: Harold Smith and Donald Smith.
Memorials are suggested to the Ronald McDonald House in Peoria or Iowa City, IA.
