Ronald Lee Strange, 70, of Kankakee, formerly of Arcola, died at 8:57 AM Wednesday, February 22, 2017 at his residence in Kankakee.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, February 26, 2017 at Shrader Funeral Home, 204 N. Locust Street, Arcola, with Rev. Jeff Van Dyke officiating. Burial will follow in the Arcola Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 1:30-2:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Ron was born May 11, 1946 in Clinton, Indiana, the son of Robert Strange, Jr. and Mary (Hobson) Strange. He married Peggy Key in Arcola on April 23, 1966.
He is survived by his wife, Peggy Strange of Kankakee; son, Troy (Holly) Strange of Plainfield; daughter, Rhonda (Michael) Love of Kankakee; mother, Mary Nichols of Casey; grandchildren, Zoe, Hannah, and Sophia Strange; Sam and David Love; 2 brothers, Jim (Linda) Strange of Altamont; Jon (Diane) Strange of Klamath Falls, Oregon; 3 sisters, Beverly (Butch) Kittle of Dayton, Ohio; Lynn (Don) Whitacre of Casey; Carolee (Vic Tatar) Bailey of Bonita Springs, Florida; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father; infant brother, Tommy; sister, Emily Bailey.
Ron was a graduate of Arcola High School Class of 1965. He retired from the Douglas County Highway Dept. where he was Assistant Superintendent of Highways. He had served as a Cub Scout and Boy Scout Leader; was an avid golfer; loved vacationing at the Bar N I Ranch in Stonewall, Colorado; and especially loved spending time with his family.
Memorials are suggested to Kankakee Valley Hospice; or Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation; or the University of Chicago IPF Research Program.
