Ronald D. Hammel, 66, of Atwood, passed away early Wednesday morning January 28, 2026 at the Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, IL

Graveside Services with military rites will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 31, 2026 at the Mackville Cemetery, Atwood, IL with Rev. Micheal Drake officiating. 

Ron was born on December 6, 1959, in Urbana, IL, the son of Richard and Rita H. Highton Hammel.

He is survived by his brothers: Barry (Vicki) Hammel, Garry Hammel and Dale (Jorena) Hammel all of Atwood and several nieces and nephews.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents and sister: Theresa Martin.

He served his country in the US Air Force.

In lieu of flower, memorials are suggested to the James Reeder American Legion Post #770, Atwood, IL
