Roger Lee Harshbarger, 71, of Atwood passed away peacefully on Monday, July 1, 2024 surrounded by his loving family.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 6, 2024 at the Hilligoss Shrader Funeral Home, 66 East US Highway 36, Atwood.  Burial will follow at the Lake Fork Cemetery, rural Atwood.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, July 5, 2024 at the funeral home.

Roger was born July 5, 1952 in Decatur, IL the son of Fred and Marilyn (Lowe) Harshbarger.  Roger graduated from Atwood-Hammond High School in 1970 and went on to attend Parkland College and Eastern Illinois University. On June 22, 1973, he married the love of his life, June Sigrist.

Roger is survived by his beloved wife, June, and their three daughters: Stacie Gass, Stephanie Jones and Elyse Harshbarger. He was a proud grandfather to Lauren Jones and Allie and Julie Bonilla. He is also survived by his siblings, Sandy Simpson, Linda Nation and Randy Harshbarger.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents.

Throughout his career, Roger worked at Harris Electric in Atwood, General Cable in Monticello, Littelfuse in Arcola and Master Brand Cabinets in Arthur. He served on the school board for Atwood-Hammond school district and served one term as the President. Roger was very active with Habitat for Humanity, serving as a board member for the Piatt County region.

In recent years, he enjoyed spending his winters in Tucson, AZ with June.

Roger's dedication to his family, his community, and his work left an indelible mark on all who knew him. He will be dearly missed.
