Rodney Scott Jacobs, 64, passed away on December 15, 2025, at Richard L. Roudebush VA Hospital, Indianapolis, IN. He was born on April 30, 1961, in Tuscola, IL to Joseph Alvin Jacobs and Evelyn Dean Jacobs McLaughlin.
He attended Tuscola schools through his freshman year and attended Charleston High School from his sophomore year to the first half of his junior year. He then moved to Indianapolis, IN and graduated from Warren Central High School in 1979.
Rod served his country in the US Air Force from 1980-1986 and the Reserves from 1986-1989 receiving numerous awards and recognitions. The award he was most proud of was a Small Arms Expert with Marksmanship Ribbon.
After serving his country, he used his skills and training to pursue a career in fire protection and security systems, where he installed and maintained systems across the US.
He was preceded in death by his stepfather, James E. McLaughlin, his father, Joseph Alvin Jacobs and older brother Steve (Jake) Jacobs.
He is survived by his children: Matt (fiancée Kaycee), Alyssa, Victoria (Tyler), Olivia (fiancé Jordan), Alex, and two granddaughters, Camryn and Scarlett.
Left to cherish his memory are his mother, Evelyn McLaughlin, his sisters Carolyn Warters, Kathryn (Jeff) Fitzgerald, Melinda (Joel) Van Dyke and his brothers: Joe (Kathy) Jacobs and Mike Jacobs. He also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A service will be held at Hilligoss Shrader Funeral Home, 705 South Main Street, Tuscola, IL on Saturday, February 28, 2026 at 2:00 pm (CST). Burial with military honors will be held immediately after the service at Cartwright Cemetery in rural Tuscola, IL.
