Robert "Bob" Brian Woods, 67, of Arthur, passed away peacefully at 7:50 AM on Thursday, March 14, 2013 at the Arthur Home after a brief illness.
Bob was born an V J Day, August 15, 1945, the son of Wendell P. and Mary Blanche Fitzjarrald Woods. He liked to say that he was the first baby-boomer.
Survivors include his brother, Jim (Sandra) Woods of East Galesburg; 2 nephews, Rick (Jeanna) Woods and their children, Emma and Ali; Scott (Pam) Woods; and uncle, Wilbur Fitzjarrald; as well as many special cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers, Bill and Phillip Woods.
Bob was a member of Arthur High School Class of 1963 and graduated from the University of Illinois with a degree in accounting in 1967. He was an accountant for hospitals in Wisconsin and Illinois and later was comptroller for Progress Industries in Arthur.
Bob served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War from 1968-1970.
He loved golf, shooting, drinking coffee at R & I and Yoders, and canoeing in the boundary waters of Quetico Provincial Park, Ontario, Canada.
As per Bob's wishes, cremation will be accorded and a graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, June 1, 2013 at the Arthur Cemetery with a Celebration of Life/Roast to follow at the Arthur Community Center. Shrader Funeral Home, 431 S. Vine Street, Arthur, is assisting the family with arrangements.
