Robert L. Porter, 73, of Villa Grove, IL, passed away at 5:00 a.m., Thursday, February 5, 2009 at the Tuscola Health Care Center, Tuscola, IL

Private family graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 7, 2009 at the Centennial Cemetery, Villa Grove, IL with military graveside rites accorded. No Visitation will be held. Hilligoss Shrader Funeral Home, 705 South Main Street, Tuscola, IL is handling the arrangements.

Mr. Porter was born on December 3, 1935 in Danville, IL, the son of Elmer W. and Fern E. Wilcox Porter. He married Peggy L. Poff on August 8, 1953 in Paris, IL. She survives.

Other survivors include: 2 Sons: Robert E. Porter of Villa Grove, IL, Kory L. Porter of Villa Grove, IL, 3 Daughters: Margel E. Morgan and husband: Larry of Atwood, IL, Jacqueline S. Harbin and husband: Greg of Villa Grove, IL, Tamela J. Azhar and husband: Azhar of Tuscola, IL, 10 Grandchildren and 8 Great-Grandchildren

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer's Association or American Heart Association

Mr. Porter was a retired ironworker. He was a 40 year member of the International Association of Iron Workers and a member of the Iron Workers Union Local 380, Champaign, IL. He proudly served his country as a member of the US Army. He was a member of the York Masonic Lodge # 313, A.F. & A. M., West Union, IL.
