Robert Dean Hinton, 83, of Tuscola passed away Wednesday, (November 24, 2010) at his home surrounded by his family.
Bob was born May 19, 1927, in Monticello, IL, a son of Joshua James and Cora Jane (Gates) Hinton. He married Marilyn Teresa Auth, of Bement, IL on January 11, 1947, at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Alhambra, California. She survives.
Bob was raised in the Monticello area and attended Bement High School. He farmed with his wife Marilyn in the Tuscola area for 48 years before retiring in 1995. He continued as Farm Manager for his two farms until the summer of 2010.
Bob and Marilyn have five daughters, Janice (Tom) Kuhl of Springfield, Kathie Fornoff of Manito, Nancy (John) Branca, of Tuscola, Peggy (Rick) Little of Champaign and Lisa (Scott) Bechtel of Champaign.
The grandchildren include Robert Lane and Kristen Lane, Sara Fornoff and husband Arthur McLean, Matt Fornoff, Lisa (Fornoff) Goodman and husband Harrison, Teresa Fornoff, Jiliane Johnson and husband Matt, Caleb Keith, and Alyssa and Alexandra Bechtel. Step grandchildren include John Kuhl and wife Angie, Christina Wools and husband Matt, Scott Branca and wife Susan and Allison Branca.
Great grandchildren are Ava and Lauren Grace Johnson and Gareth McLean. Step great grandchildren are Calum McLean,Jacob and Jared Wools, Hunter Branca and Tanner Block.
Sisters include Mary (Bob) Hinch, Carol Sue Osterbur; brothers are James Hinton and Kenneth (Shirley) Hinton.
Proceeding Bob in death were his parents Joshua and Cora Hinton, his much loved and never forgotten great-grandchildren Jocelyne Aubrey and Myles Griffin Lane, his sisters Monica Armstrong, Lula Somers, and Joan Wiggins, brothers-in-law were Joe Armstrong, Dick Osterbur, Ed Somers, Lloyd Wiggins, and sister-in-law Marilyn Swartz Hinton.
Bob was a member of Forty Martyrs Catholic Church, Douglas County Farm Bureau, Douglas Co. Museum, and the Moose Lodge. He dearly loved his family, fishing, his boat, his farms, dancing and traveling. His travel highlights include Canada, Alaska, Hawaii, Mexico, the Caribbean and most U.S states. He was one of the first DeKalb seed corn growers in the area and honored as a top yield producer for many years.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 29 at Forty Martyrs Catholic Church, 201 E. Van Allen, Tuscola. The Rev. James O'Shea and Rev. Barry Harmon will concelebrate the Mass. Burial will be in the Tuscola Township Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. Sunday, November 28 at Hilligoss Shrader Funeral Home, 705 South Main Street, Tuscola, IL. There will be a Vigil service starting at 3:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested memorials may be made to Don Moyer Boys and Girls Club, Champaign and to the Tuscola Help-A-Child Program.
