Robert Scott Fairow, Sr., 99, formerly of Oblong, IL, passed away at 10:37 p.m., Sunday, August 23, 2026 at the Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana, IL

Graveside services with military rites will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, August 29, 2026 at the Oblong Cemetery, Oblong, IL.

Robert was born on April 27, 1927 in Oakford, IL, the son of Herbert and Elizabeth Jane Breeden Fairow. He married Lucille Morgan on June 20, 1953 in Evanston, IL. She preceded him in death on January 10, 2023.

Survivors include his children: Robert Scott Fairow, Jr., Cynthia Annette (Dave) Fairow, Herbert Clinton (Deborah) Fairow and Michael Scott Fairow, grandchildren: Aimee (Mike) Cornstubble, Michelle, Christen (Justin) Fry, Sabrina and Jayd, great-grandchildren: Nola, Mikey and Mia.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 4 brothers and 8 sisters.

Robert served his country as a Seaman First Class for the US Navy during World War II. He formerly worked as a machinist for LS Heath Company in Robinson, IL. He was a member of the Oblong First Baptist Church and Robert loved woodworking.
