Robert J. Carr, 95, of Urbana, IL, formerly of Atwood, passed away at 6:05 p.m., Monday, February 13, 2017 at the Champaign County Nursing Home, Urbana, IL

Services celebrating his life will be held 1:00 p.m., Thursday, February 16, 2017 at the Stone Creek Church, 2502 South Race Street, Urbana. Burial will follow in the Grandview Memorial Gardens, Champaign. Hilligoss Shrader Funeral Home, Atwood, IL is entrusted with the arrangements.

Bob was born on February 1, 1922 in Sever County, TN, the son of Arthur and Minnie Hall Carr. He married Gladys Troxell.

Survivors include his children: Gwen (Leroy) Powell of Chandler, AZ, Phillip Carr of Mahomet and Opal Woodard of Tolono, 10 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren, sisters: Mary Epps of Oak Ridge, TN and Frances Burgett of Jacksonville, FL

He was preceded in death by his son: Daral Carr, 1 brother and 5 sisters.

Bob retired from the University of Illinois, where he worked as a painter. He served his country in the US Army during World War II. Bob was a very active member and loved volunteering his time at the Stone Creek Church. He enjoyed attending family gathering.

Memorials are suggested to the Stone Creek Church.
