Rita Jean Payton, 66, of Tuscola, IL, passed away Sunday, November 15, 2009 at her residence.

Funeral Services will be held at 10 AM, Thursday, November 19, 2009 at the Hilligoss Shrader Funeral Home, 705 South Main St., Tuscola, IL, with Rev. Joseph Carter officiating. Visitation will be held from 5 PM to 8 PM, Wednesday, November 18, 2009 at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Camargo Cemetery, Camargo, IL.

Rita was born October 9, 1943 in Tuscola, IL, the daughter of Oscar and Geneva (Barnett) Stabler. She married Joe Raymond Goodwin in 1962, to them were born 3 children: Carmen Marie, Steven Ray and Gerald Lance. He preceded her in death in 1967. Rita then married Jim Hunt, they had a daughter: Marcia Renee. She married Larry Payton in 1985. He survives.

Other survivors include her children: Carmen Goodwin of Cincinnati, OH, Steven Goodwin of Marshall, IL, Gerald Goodwin of Plano, TX and Marcia Burdick and husband: Rob of Northville, MI, Grandchildren: Aaron Goodwin, Joseph Goodwin, Nathan Collier and Nicholas Campbell, Brothers: Max Stabler of Rantoul, IL, Larry (Carol) Stabler of Fredericksburg, VA, Bernie (Linda) Stabler and Twin Brother: Ronnie Stabler both of Tuscola, IL, Sisters: Sister Mary Helen Stabler of St. Louis, MO, Joan (Norm) Fasig of Ridge Crest, CA, Judy (Kenny) Cler of Camargo, IL, and Linda Hamilton of Florissant, MO and her honorary sister: Dolores Nimmer of Villa Park, IL, Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers: John Stabler & Robert Stabler

Rita enjoyed being with her family and many friends. She was a long time employee of the Tuscola Moose Lodge #729. She was loved by all who knew her.
