Richard L. Walters, 87, of Atwood, passed away at 2:20 a.m., Sunday, March 2, 2025 at Hilltop Skilled Nursing and Rehab, Charleston, IL

Graveside Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, March 7, 2025 at the Arthur Cemetery, Arthur, IL with Rev. Micheal Drake officiating. No Visitation will be held. Hilligoss Shrader Funeral Home, Atwood, IL is handling the arrangements.

Richard was born on October 10, 1937 in Farmer City, IL, the son of Virgil L. and Pearl Abbott Walters. He married Judy A. Harrison on September 4, 1978 in Atwood. She preceded him in death on April 5, 2014.

Survivors include his children: Kevin Walters and Pam Walters, step-sons: Jeff (Christie) Behrend and Gregg (Kelly) Behrend, grandchildren: Christian Behrend, Erica and Evan Behrend and Madison Walters and other extended family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister: Shirley Bowmer.

Richard retired from Kraft Foods in Champaign, where he worked for many years. He enjoyed watching golf and was a Chicago Cubs fan. Richard loved his dog Abby very much.
