Richard N. "Rick" Downs, 58, of Hammond, IL, passed away at 2:01 a.m., Sunday, October 30, 2016 at the St. Mary's Hospital, Decatur, Illinois

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, November 4, 2016 at the Hilligoss Shrader Funeral Home, 66 East US Highway 36, Atwood, IL. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, November 3, 2016 at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Hammond Cemetery, Hammond, IL

Rick was born on July 3, 1958, the son of William Benjamin and Margaret Mildred Schroeder Downs. He married Mary Ann Allen on February 27, 1988 in Hammond, IL. She survives.

Other survivors include his mother of Arcola, daughter: Christina Downs of Hammond, sons: Seth, Eric and Brandon Downs all of Hammond, Adam Downs of Peoria, grandchildren: Alyson M. Downs, Hayleigh C. Sweets, Abigail M. Downs, Emily T. Downs and Aaron R. Downs all of Peoria, sisters: Sue Downs of Tuscola, Carol Kavanaugh of Tolono, Janet Van Gundy of Arcola, brothers: Ken Downs of Tuscola and Bill Downs of Clinton, IN.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Rick was a truck driver for 28 years, currently driving for Kuhn's Farms. He enjoyed tractor pulls, he owned and pulled with "The Outlaw" tractor for several years. Rick collected and restored antique lawnmowers and collected toy tractors.

He had been a 4-H swine superintendent for Moultrie-Douglas counties, and a former member of the ITPA and I&I Tractor Club.
