Richard "Dean" Gensler, 85, of Tuscola, IL, passed away at 7:02 p.m., Friday, Feb. 17, 2017 at the Arthur Home, Arthur, IL
Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2017 at the Hilligoss Shrader Funeral Home, 705 South Main Street, Tuscola, IL, with Pastor Darin Elder officiating. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2017 at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Tuscola Township Cemetery with military graveside rites accorded.
Dean was born on September 12, 1931 in Taylorville, IL, the son of Joseph and Velma Tolle Gensler. He married Eunice Perrine on December 24, 1956 in Taylorville, IL. They just recently celebrated their 60 th wedding anniversary. She survives.
Together they had 5 children: Rhonda (Doug) McCumber and Debbie (Mike) Jacobs both of Tuscola, Jeff (Jolene) Gensler of Rantoul, Terri (Tim) Gensler of Clinton and Shari LeComte of Troy, MO, 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers and sisters: Margaret (Peg) Dowdy, Katherine McClain, John Gensler, Shirley Garmon, Warner LeeDon Gensler, Gerald Ray Gensler and Jody Gensler.
Dean retired from Illini FS (Growmark) in September 1994 after 30 years of service in transportation. Following his retirement, he worked for Mooney Ford for 10 years. He served his country as a member of the United States Army for 2 years.
Dean was a member of the Eagle Mountain Assembly of God, Tuscola, IL. He enjoyed country music and country music shows, old cars, traveling, camping and riding motorcycles.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be given to Eagle Mountain Assembly of God or donor's choice.
