Richard G. "Dick" Bradford, 95, of Arthur, died at 3:08 p.m. Friday, October 18, 2024 at Sarah Bush Lincoln Hospital, Mattoon, IL
Dick was born May 28, 1929 in Douglas County, the son of Cleone and Irene (Heerdt) Bradford. He was united in marriage to Alberta Watson on July 19, 1953 at the Jonathan Creek Christian Church.
Survivors include his wife, Alberta "Bert" Bradford of Arthur; 2 daughters, Valerie Chancellor of Arthur; Michele and husband Chad Price of Arthur; grandchildren, Corrine (Bradley) Chancellor of Arthur; Gabrielle (Doug) Morrow of Arthur; Whitney (Hank) Schrock of Fountain, Colorado; Allison (Dylan) Bilyeu of Sullivan, Indiana; Dylan Price of Arthur; great-grandchildren, Marcus, Dalton John, Maleyna, and Donovan Vanausdoll; Julius Morrow; Justine Chancellor; Bryar Bilyeu; Wyatt and Tripp Schrock; and sister, Barbara Eckstein of Arthur.
Dick was preceded in death by his son, Brian Bradford; and son-in-law, John Chancellor.
Dick was a graduate of the Arthur High School Class of 1947, continuing his education by earning a B.S. Degree at Eastern Illinois University in 1951. He was an accountant for USI Chemical Corp. in Tuscola and also became a realtor, working with Romine Real Estate.
He was a member of the Arthur United Methodist Church; 50-year member of the Arthur AF&AM Masonic Lodge; served on the Arthur School Board; and served as a Republican Committeeman for the Bourbon Precinct.
Dick was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the U.S. Air Force.
Dick enjoyed reading, watching TV, sitting on the front porch and spending time with the grandkids.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 22, 2024 at the Arthur United Methodist Church with Pastor Jill Bunker officiating. Casual dress is requested. Burial will follow in the Arthur Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral service at the church. Shrader Funeral Home, 431 S. Vine Street, Arthur, is assisting the family with arrangements.
Memorials are suggested to the Arthur EMT Assn; Shriners Children's Hospital St. Louis; or Arthur United Methodist Church.
