Obituary

Rhea Phyllis Romine, 92, formerly of rural Atwood, IL, died Saturday, June 2, 2018 at Lewis Memorial Christian Village in Springfield.

She was born on February 16, 1926 in Decatur, IL to Reed and Lora (Ballard) Hoff. Rhea married Robert J Romine on September 2, 1945 in Garrett, IL.

Survivors include three sons, Aaron (LuAnn) Romine of Springfield, Barry Romine of Belleville and Steven (Lan) Romine of Ormond Beach, FL, 9 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Robert, 1 grandson Matt Romine, 2 brothers, Horace and Phillip Hoff, and 2 sisters, Natalie Larson and Rosemary Mosely.

Rhea attended Atwood Township High School and attended nursing training at Decatur Macon County School of Nursing. She was a farm wife, mother and later worked in the family business at R & J Implement Co in Atwood. She was a member of the Lake Fork Church, serving on several committees, as well as a member in the women's fellowship. She very much enjoyed her entire family and gatherings, raising African violets, playing bridge and was a member of the XVI HI bridge club. Rhea was an election judge for many years in Douglas County and was appreciated by the County Clerk and voters for her kind service. After moving from the farm she lived at Springfield Supportive Living in Springfield where she was very active in their activities and enjoyed her friends; later she lived at Lewis Memorial Christian Village. Rhea treated all the same: with a smile, kindness and respect. She will be sadly missed by all of her family and friends.

Visitation: 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Thursday, June 7th at Hilligoss Shrader Funeral Home, 66 East US Highway 36 in Atwood, IL. Funeral Service: 10:30 am on Friday, June 8th, at Hilligoss Shrader Funeral. Burial will follow at Lake Fork Cemetery in rural Atwood
