Renee Diane Dare, 90, of Arthur, died at 4:08 AM Saturday, February 6, 2016 at Carle Hospital in Urbana.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, February 12, 2016 at Shrader Funeral Home, 431 S. Vine Street, Arthur, with Rev. Paul Fraser officiating. Burial will follow in the Arthur Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral service.

Renee was born February 19, 1925 in Hinsdale, the daughter of Harry and Mayme Fiala Nelson. She married Donald Edward Dare in Bloomfield, New Jersey on December 21, 1945; he preceded her in death on November 10, 1993.

Survivors include her son, Donald Dare, Jr. and wife Carla of Lansing, Kansas; daughter, Donna Dare and husband John Berg of Columbia, Missouri; grandchildren, Kayla Ravenscraft of West Linn, Oregon; Brett Dare of Lansing, Kansas; great grandson, Rocco Griffith Ravenscraft of West Linn, Oregon; brother, Chandler Nelson of Montgomery, Texas; nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two daughters, Barbara Kay Dare and Patricia Susanne Dare who were killed in a tragic car accident on Easter Sunday, April 2, 1972 on their way back to college; grandson, Martin Allen Kotwitz who died in a car accident also.

Renee graduated from S.E. Gross Grammar School in Brookfield, Illinois and Riverside Brookfield High School in Riverside. She was a member of the First Congregational Church of Brookfield. In recent years she attended services at the Vine Street Christian Church in Arthur. Her hobbies centered around family. She enjoyed sewing for her three daughters.
