Raymond Joseph Volk, 86, of Arthur, formerly of Pesotum, IL, passed away at 4:20 p.m., Friday, November 24, 2017 at the Arthur Home, Arthur, IL
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at Forty Martyrs Catholic Church, 201 East Van Allen, Tuscola, IL.
Burial will follow in the Tuscola Township Cemetery, Tuscola, IL.
Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, November 28, 2017 at the Hilligoss Shrader Funeral Home, 705 South Main Street, Tuscola, IL.
A Rosary Service will be held at 4 p.m., Tuesday, November 28, 2017 at the funeral home.
Raymond was born on June 24, 1931 in Ingraham, IL, the son of Henry and Mary Kuenstler Volk. He married Dolores J. Wishall on February 10, 1954 at St. Joseph's Church, Pesotum, IL. She survives.
Also surviving are their children: David (Sandra) Volk of Oakland, IL, Diane Pohlig of Tuscola, IL, Barbara (William) Wood of Bentonville, AR, Ellen Volk and Rosemary Volk both of Avondale, AZ and Gary (Cheryl) Volk of Round Rock, TX, 6 grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, 5 step-great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren, brother: Herman (Mary) Volk of Clairemont, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers and 1 sister.
Memorials are suggested to Masses for the church, Arthritis Foundation or to the Parkinson's Foundation.
Mr. Volk was a retired farmer and worked for Illinois Foundation Seed Company in Tolono, IL prior to his retirement. He was a member of the Forty Martyrs Catholic Church. Raymond loved farming, woodworking, gardening and raising livestock.
