Ramon Presley "Pete" Wierman, 79, of Atwood, IL, passed away at 6:45 A.M., Wednesday, March 7, 2007 at his residence in Atwood.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Sunday, March 11, 2007 at the United Church of Atwood, 210 North Main Street, Atwood, IL, with the Rev. Veronica Walsh Don officiating. Visitation will be held from 4:00 - 8:00 P.M., Saturday, March 10, 2007 at the Hilligoss Shrader Funeral Home, 66 East US Highway 36, Atwood, IL, with Masonic Rites conducted by the Atwood Masonic Lodge #651, AF & AM at 8:00 P.M., at the funeral home. Burial with military graveside rites conducted by the James Reeder American Legion Post #770 Atwood, IL will be held at the Mackville Cemetery, Atwood, IL.
Mr. Wierman was born on June 3, 1927 in Atwood, IL, the son of Edward "Ed" and Dessie Saybolt Wierman. He married Patricia "Pat" Landgrebe on January 30, 1944 in Bement, IL. She preceded him in death on April 5, 2006.
Survivors include: 4 Sons: Richard "Rick" Wierman and Candace, Ramon "Ramie" Wierman, II and wife: Kathy, Kim Wierman and wife: Stephanie, Kyle Wierman and wife: Lisa all of Atwood, IL. 11 Grandchildren, 14 Great-Grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by 2 Brothers: Virgil and Roy Wierman.
Mr. Wierman was a member of the Laborer's International Union for 58 years, where he had Book #5. He was the business manager for the Laborer's Local #573 in Tuscola for 40 years. He was also a member of the Mid-Eastern Labor Council for 28 years; he served on the Lincoln Land Building and Construction Trades Council, where he was past president from 1989 to 2000; he served on the Central Illinois Laborer's District Council and was past secretary/treasurer; he was a past trustee of the Central Illinois Laborer's Pension and Welfare Programs. Mr. Wierman was a member of the Oddfellows in Arthur, Atwood Masonic Lodge #651, AF & AM, James Reeder American Legion Post #770, Atwood, IL, Tuscola Moose Lodge #729 and the United Church of Atwood. Mr. Wierman was a US Army Veteran of World War II.
