Ralph Irwin Hanner, 86, of Atwood, IL, passed away at 5:55 am, Friday, July 16, 2010 at the Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana, IL

Funeral Services will be held at 11 am, Monday, July 19, 2010 at the Hilligoss Shrader Funeral Home, 66 East US Highway 36, Atwood, IL, with Dr. Lanny Faulkner officiating. Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 pm, on Sunday, July 18, 2010 at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Tuscola Township Cemetery, Tuscola, IL

Mr. Hanner was born on August 16, 1923 in Oakland, IL, the son of Roy H. and Ethyl Campbell Hanner. He married Kathryn Cochran on August 1, 1942 in Paris, IL. She survives.

Other survivors include his children: Dennis R. Hanner and wife: Marianne of Tuscola, Joy Ellen Fay and husband: Robert of Atwood, Sandra K. Whitley and husband: Mark of Chatham, and Thomas A. Hanner and wife: Staci of Channahon, 8 Grandchildren: April V. Pal, Spike Hanner, Kathryn J.D. Sunderland, Robert Derik Fay, Joy Nicole Lyons, Andrea Lynn Louden, R. Zane Whitley and Zachary M. Whitley, 13 Great-Grandchildren, Brother: Lowell "Bud" Hanner of Oakwood, IL

He was preceded in death by his parents, son: Charles Hanner, 2 brothers, 2 sisters and 2 grandsons: John J. and Randal Whitley

Ralph was the former manager and owner of Galton Grain and Oil Company in Galton, IL. He owned R & K Sales and he formerly worked at the Tuscola True Value Hardware Store for several years. He was a member and deacon emeritus of the First Baptist Church of Atwood. He was a former elder at the Tuscola First Christian Church. Ralph was the past master and member of the Tuscola Masonic Lodge #332, AF & AM. He was a US Navy Veteran and member of the James Reeder American Legion Post #770, Atwood, IL. Ralph was one of the original founders and board member of the Illini Children's Christian Home in St. Joseph, IL. Ralph loved to fish and garage sale.
