ARTHUR, ILLINOIS

Ralph Richard "Bud" Seaman, 81, of Arthur, died at 4:35 PM Thursday, Sept. 1, 2011 at the Arthur Home.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2011 at the Arthur United Methodist Church with Rev. Leroy Allison officiating. Burial will follow in the Arthur Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 PM Monday with Masonic Rites at 7:00 PM at Shrader Funeral Home, 431 S. Vine Street, Arthur.

Bud was born September 14, 1929 in Moultrie County, the son of Ralph and Martha Eads Seaman. He was united in marriage to Ellen Jane Hendrickson on July 17, 1948 in Henderson, Kentucky; she preceded him in death on March 1, 2009. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in 2008.

Survivors include 3 children, Jo Ellen Seaman of Arthur; Dee Ann Daily and husband Michael of Dallas, Georgia; Dennis Seaman and wife Nancy of Champaign; brothers, Robert Seaman and wife Katherine of Long Island, New York; Harold Seaman of Dyersburg, Indiana; 8 grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ellen; parents; daughter, April; son, Butch; grandson, Jeremy; and sister, Carolyn Quick.

Bud graduated from Arthur High School Class of 1947. He worked at Wayne Feeds, Cabot, Schrock Cabinets, and owned Midstates Meter Company.

He was a member of the Arthur United Methodist Church, Arthur Community Unit #305 School Board, Arthur Masonic Lodge AF&AM and Arthur Lions Club. He was swine and livestock superintendent of the Moultrie-Douglas Fair for many years.

Bud enjoyed traveling in the motor home and spent 15 winters in the Valley in South Texas and witnessed a rare snowfall one Christmas while staying there. His true love was family, especially his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
