Rachel Michelle Dettling, 19, of Mattoon, IL, formerly of Hammond, IL, passed away on Saturday, October 22, 2016.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, October 28, 2016 at the Hilligoss Shrader Funeral Home, 66 East US Highway 36, Atwood, IL, with Rev. Gene Godfrey officiating. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m., Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Hammond Cemetery, Hammond, IL. Casual Attire is requested by the family.

Rachel was born on December 4, 1996 in Urbana, IL, the daughter of Neil M. and Carla J. Coventry Dettling.

Survivors include her parents of Hammond, paternal grandmother: Dorothy Dettling of Decatur, maternal grandmother: Betty (John) Lambdin of Sullivan, aunts and uncles: Stephen (Connie) Coventry of Shelbyville, Dennis (Linda) Coventry of Meriden, CT, Marilyn (Mark) Zimmer of Olympia, WA, Michael (Patricia) Coventry of Mattoon, Lynda Baker of Shelbyville, Roger (Barb) Coventry of Toledo, OH, Dennis (Cheryl Dettling of Lovington, cousins: Rhonda (Bill) Bollenbaugh, Michael (Chuck) Coventry-Fant, Michelle (David) Johnson, Kate Coventry, Michael (Jamie) Coventry, Patrick Coventry, Mary Grace (Josh) Coventry-Stern, Kelly Kress, Michelle Kress, Lyndsey (Kevin) Reedy, Brennon Baker, Jared Coventry, Mindi Potts and Todd (Rachel) Dettling and many special friends.

She was preceded by her maternal and paternal grandfathers, aunt: Sherry Cleveland and uncle: Stephen Baker

Memorials are suggested to the Lake Land College Foundation, for the benefit of the Cosmetology Department, Mattoon, IL

Rachel graduated from Atwood-Hammond Arthur-Lovington High School in 2015 and Lake Land College Cosmetology Department in 2016. She worked at the Rural King in Mattoon, IL and at Smart Styles at the Mattoon Walmart.

Rachel received the Lake Land Presidential Scholarship, Lake Land College Foundation Scholarship, Timm Trust Scholarship, Arthur Education Association Scholarship, Atwood-Hammond PRIDE Scholarship, Academic Varsity Letter, National Honor Society Inductee, Student of the Term, Student Council Honor Delegate, High Honor Roll and Employee of the Month at Rural King.

Rachel enjoyed music, doing hair and makeup, esthetics, sewing, knitting, traveling and being in beauty pageants.
