Obituary

Quincy L. Allison (age 89) of Tuscola died at 6:55 P.M. on December 24, 2010.

Funeral services will be at the First Christian Church of Tuscola, 101 East Church Street, Tuscola, IL at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, December 27, 2010. Scott Zorn and Bruce Parmenter will officiate. Visitation will be held from 9:30 A.M. until time of services on Monday at the church. Burial will be in the Tuscola Township Cemetery with military graveside rites accorded. Hilligoss Shrader Funeral Home, 705 South Main Street, Tuscola, IL is handling the arrangements.

Q. Lee Allison was born in Newton, IL on December 31, 1920 to Harry and Clara (McCoy) Allison. He was married to Joyce (Portlock) on October 5, 1941 in Newton. She survives. Survivors also include one son James Allison, Lincoln; two daughters Melody Barber, Tuscola, and Mary Ogden, Tuscola; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, one sister, son Stephen, and grandson Troy.

Lee graduated from Newton Community High School in 1938 and served in the army during World War II in central Europe with the 284th Engineer Combat Battalion. He worked for Roy Moulden in radio and started his own business Allison Radio in 1945 and continued in business for 28 years. After retiring, he worked for Community Service Systems, formerly of Lakeland, CO, and for Christian Homes, Inc. of Lincoln, IL. He was a member of the First Christian Church of Tuscola, where he served as a teacher and elder for many years. He was also a Rotarian for many years and was president of Rotary during the golden anniversary years.
