Obituary

Phyllis Ann Stewart, 74, of Arcola, died at 11:55 a.m. Sunday, October 18, 2020 at the Odd Fellow-Rebekah Home in Mattoon.

Phyllis was born September 12, 1946 in Coles County, the daughter of Harvey Newton and Lela Runner Ames. She married Charles Edward Stewart in Coles County on October 29, 1965; he preceded her in death on July 23, 2020.

She is survived by her daughter, Ginger (Rick) Kielhorn of Hindsboro; son, Brad Stewart of Arcola; granddaughter, Emery Stewart (Marko Verdin) of Mattoon; grandson, Quinton Risley of St. Paul, Minnesota; 6 great grandchildren, Brandy, Marko Jr, DaKari, Kamrynn, Max, and Bentlee; 4 brothers, Harold (Mary Ellen) Ames of Charleston; Don (Dorothy) Ames of Lerna; Bill (Shawn) Ames of Mattoon; Gary (Julie) Ames of Lerna; 3 sisters, Sandra (Caroll) Adkins of Mattoon; Nancy (Jim) Trigg of Lerna; Betty Atteberry of Lerna, and sister-in-law, Mary Alice Ames of Mattoon. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie: 2 brothers, John (Linda) Ames; Roger Ames, and brother-in-law, Bob Atteberry.

Phyllis graduated from Charleston High School Class of 1964. After operating a daycare for several years, she then received an Associate and Applied Science Degree from Lakeland College in 1983. She was employed by Eastern Illinois Business Office until retiring on June 1, 2004.

Phyllis loved her family very much. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, crocheting, knitting, reading, and gardening.

A Memorial Service for Phyllis and Charlie will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, October 22, 2020 at the Shrader Funeral Home, 204 N. Locust Street, Arcola, with Pastor Brent Budd officiating.

There will also be Masonic Rites. Burial will follow in the Arcola Cemetery with military rites accorded by the Arcola VFW and U.S. Marine Honor Guard.

Memorial are suggested to the Arcola Lions Club or Arcola Public Library.
