Phyllis G. Smith, 86, of Arcola, IL, passed away at 2:00 pm, Friday, September 10, 2010 at the Arthur Home, Arthur, IL
Graveside Services will be held at 11:00 am, Monday, September 13, 2010 at the Arcola Cemetery, Arcola, IL, with the Rev. Don Winch officiating. No Visitation will be held. Shrader Funeral Home, 204 North Locust Street, Arcola, IL is handling the arrangements.
Miss Smith was born on September 21, 1923 in Arcola, IL, the daughter of Glenn F. and Florence Packard Smith.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother: Richard Smith
She was a graduate of Arcola High School and Illinois State University, where she received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education. She received her Master's Degree from the University of Illinois in 1945.
She was an Associate Professor at Ball State in Muncie, IN for 8 years. She worked for Scott Foresman Publishing Company, where she served as an Educational Consultant for 28 years.
She loved to travel, play her violin and play bridge and other card games.
She was a life member of the Arcola Presbyterian Church and a member of the Arcola Music Club.
