Phyllis Pauline (Vogel) Gallagher, 83, of Tuscola, formerly of Arcola, died at 2:53 AM Tuesday, August 12, 2014 at her residence in Tuscola.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, August 16, 2014 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Arcola, with Father Delix Michel officiating. Burial will follow in the Arcola Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9:00-11:00 AM on Saturday at the church. Shrader Funeral Home, 204 N. Locust Street, Arcola, is in charge of arrangements.

Phyllis was born November 28, 1930 in Tuscola, the daughter of Charles and Beulah Wilkins Bickel, Sr. She married Charles Richard "Dick" Vogel in Arcola on August 25, 1951; he preceded her in death on February 7, 1985. She then married James Gallagher in Arcola on August 31, 1991; he preceded her in death on January 3, 1999.

Survivors include 2 sons, Marty (Linda) Vogel of Mahomet; Mark (Tammy) Vogel of Tuscola; 7 grandchildren; and 6 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Lyn Ann (Vogel) Dick on July 6, 2014; infant son, Joseph; two brothers, Bill and Charles Bickel, Jr.

Phyllis graduated from Arcola High School. She had worked at Vyverbergs in Arcola and the Old Heidelberg in Arthur. She was a member of St. John's Catholic Church and the Altar and Rosary Society. She was a member of St. John's Choir and sang at many weddings and funerals. In high school chorus, Phyllis placed 2nd in the state as a soloist performing "Blue Bird". She enjoyed her flowers and gardening.
