Obituary
Peter L. Hanks, 82, of Pierson, IL, passed away at 7:58 P.M., Wednesday, August 20, 2008 at the Decatur Memorial Hospital, Decatur, IL
Masonic and Funeral Services celebrating his life will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, August 23, 2008 at the Hilligoss Shrader Funeral Home, 66 East US Highway 36, Atwood, IL, with Pastor Dan Smith officiating. Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the services at the funeral home. Burial with military graveside rites will be in the Mackville Cemetery, Atwood, IL
Mr. Hanks was born on January 22, 1926 in Brocton, IL, the son of Clyde and Oveta McGinnis Hanks. He married Norma L. Oakley on March 9, 1963 in Tuscola, IL. She preceded him in death on May 24, 1996.
Survivors include: 1 Son: Jim Hanks and wife: Stephanie of Arthur, IL and 2 Step-Grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his Parents, 1 Brother and 3 Sisters.
Memorials are suggested to the Shriners Hospital for Children, 2211 North Oak Park Ave., Chicago, IL 60707-3392
Mr. Hanks retired from USI Chemical Company, Tuscola, IL in 1990, where he worked as a maintenance mechanic. He was a 50 year member of the Edgar Masonic Lodge #829, AF & AM in Hume, IL. He was a US Army Veteran of the Korean War and he was an avid fisherman.
