Peggy Joan Hines, 82, of Humboldt, died at 10:15 AM Sunday, Oct. 16, 2011 at her residence.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, October 21, 2011 at Shrader Funeral Home, 204 N. Locust Street, Arcola, with Pastor Dale Tomas officiating. Burial will follow in the Humboldt Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00-8:00 PM Thursday at the funeral home.
Peggy was born May 18, 1929 in Humboldt, the daughter of Paul J. and Dorothy Carpenter Callahan. She was united in marriage to Dale Hines on May 30, 1948 in Charleston; he preceded her in death on April 2, 2010.
Survivors include her son, Jay Hines and wife Debra of Mattoon; 2 daughters, Gayle Hall and husband Alan of Humboldt; Kim Brooks and husband Mark of Humboldt; 1 sister, Janis VanDeever of Mattoon, whom she raised; 5 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandson; and special cousins, Virginia Carpenter and Judy Key. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dale; and son, Dennis.
Peggy retired from the Mattoon Walmart and was a member of the Charleston Moose Club. Her family and animals were the love of her life.
Memorials are suggested to Hospice of Sarah Bush Lincoln Hospital or Coles County Humane Society.
