Peggy Elaine Crossman, 84, returned to her heavenly home on Monday, September 10, 2018. Her devotion to her family and her firm belief in God supported her while she lived her final years with Alzheimer's. She was born October 15, 1933 to Kenneth and Agatha (Schempf) Huber in Arthur, Illinois.

Peggy was raised in Arthur, Illinois for a period prior to her family moving to Tuscola, Illinois where she graduated in May of 1951. Peggy married Robert Crossman of Tuscola, Illinois in October of 1951. Peggy devoted her time to raising her children before taking a position with the Douglas County Courthouse. Peggy worked for the circuit clerk's office for 24 years before running for office of Circuit Clerk of Douglas County Illinois in 1988. She was elected for two terms before retiring from the courthouse in 1996. She continued to bailiff part-time for Judge Lincoln for the next ten years.

Peggy will be remembered as a loving and devoted mom, mother-in-law, grandma, aunt, Mammaw and friend who shared her love of the seasons and holidays with anyone. Peggy could be found decorating for holidays one right after another. If company stopped by in fall or winter, apple dumplings, warm cheese soup, cookies or caramels would be served. She could be found in spring and summer riding her bike for miles or swinging on her porch swing. If Peggy was not in any of these spots, she could be found at one of her grandson's ball games.

She is survived by her son, Robert (Trudi) Crossman, Arthur, Illinois; son, Daniel Crossman, Arthur, Illinois; grandson, Marcus (Dawn) Crossman, Noblesville, Indiana; grandson, Kenneth (Emily) Crossman, Arthur, Illinois; daughter-in-laws Nancy Marie Crossman of Atwood, Illinois and Nancy Rae Crossman of Tuscola; four great-grandchildren, Marcus Crossman Junior, Abigail Crossman, Nellie Crossman, and Ruby Crossman; her sister Jeanine Dietrich and her brother Wayne (Gayle) Huber. Peggy was preceded in death by her both of her parents. The family wishes to thank Pam Harper and Austin Andres for their loving care of Peggy.

Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 12, 2018 at Hilligoss Shrader Funeral Home, 705 South Main Street, Tuscola, Illinois.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, September 13, 2018 at the funeral home with Rev. Kenneth Roedder officiating. Burial will be at Tuscola Township Cemetery.
