Pauline B. Maycroft, 95, of Arthur, died at 2:20 PM Friday, April 13, 2012 at the Arthur Home.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, April 16, 2012, at Shrader Funeral Home, 431 S. Vine Street, Arthur, with Rev. Dawn Ingram officiating. Burial will follow in the Arthur Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral service at the funeral home.

Mrs. Maycroft was born Sept. 30, 1916 in Gary, Indiana, the daughter of Joseph Raymond and Opal Downs Hicks. She married Lawrence Maycroft in River Forest on Oct. 3, 1937; he preceded her in death on Feb. 26, 1988.

Survivors include her son, Dale Maycroft and wife Margie of Arthur; daughter, Janice Strain of Chicago; sister, Gery Reynolds of Roxana; 4 grandchildren, Debbie Coller and husband Ed of Arthur; Pam Twist and husband Greg of Omaha, Nebraska; Todd Maycroft and wife Heather of Poplar Bluff, Missouri; Kerry Strain and wife Jodi of Chicago; and 12 great grandchildren.

Mrs. Maycroft was a member of the Vine Street Christian Church where she was baptized in 1955. She loved to quilt and help with crafts at the church and enjoyed roller skating at Danceland in Decatur and Silver Star Roller Rink in Mattoon. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star; 4-H leader for 10 years; served on the Lowe Township Election Board; was a lifelong Cub Fan and attended the World Series in 1935. She also enjoyed the sheep shows and was a judge of textiles at the Moultrie-Douglas County Fair. Pauline was very active in her children's, grandchildren's, and great grandchilden's lives.
