Paul Turner, 100, of Tuscola, IL, passed away at 12:24 p.m., Saturday, January 4, 2014 at the Tuscola Health Care Center, Tuscola, IL

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, January 9, 2014 at the Hilligoss Shrader Funeral Home, 705 South Main Street, Tuscola, IL, with Rev. Jerry Conner officiating. No visitation will be held. Burial will be in the Tuscola Township Cemetery, Tuscola, IL

Mr. Turner was born on December 1, 1913 in Tompkinsville, KY, the son of William and Melvina Turner. He married Pauline Dickerson on October 8, 1932 in Tompkinsville, KY. She preceded him in death on January 13, 2005.

Survivors include his children: Willa Dean (Harold) Smith of Sebastian, FL, Willie (Lydia) Turner of New Concord, KY, James Harold (Judy) Turner of Sebastian, FL and Phyllis (Gordon) Adams of Tuscola, IL, 11 grandchildren: Michael Smith of Nashville, TN, Timothy (Tara) Smith of Emporia, KS, Valarie (Jim) French of Clinton, IL, Cheryl (George) Schmitt of Washington, IL, Laura (Dan) Clements of Tuscola, IL, Vicki (Don) Smith of Vero Beach, FL, Anita (Mitch) Kerans of Vero Beach, FL, Simphoney Morris of Vero Beach, FL, Tina (Shane) Cox of Murray, KY, Eric (Emily) Adams of Dhaka, Bangladesh and Kristina (Shandon) Smith of Tuscola, IL, 25 great-grandchildren, 11 great-great-grandchildren, and 4 step-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 72 years, Pauline in 2005, son: Edward Turner, five brothers, four sisters and a granddaughter: Diane Dean (Bennett) Smith.

Paul farmed all of his life in the Tuscola area and loved his farming. He had a cap collection of about 40 hats which all of us kids added to from time to time. Paul was happiest when he had a Pepsi, a big dish of ice cream and a piece of chocolate, he said he never had a bad piece of chocolate.

Paul had been a resident of the Tuscola Health Care Center, where he enjoyed the best of care for the last 15 years.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Tuscola Health Care Center Activity Fund.
